Grünberg district (Hesse)
The Grünberg district was a district in the Upper Hesse province of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . The former district area today belongs partly to the district of Gießen and partly to the Vogelsbergkreis in Hesse .
history
The Grünberg district was formed in 1832 from the Grünberg district and part of the Gießen district. On July 1, 1837, 25 parishes moved from the Grünberg district to the Gießen district . At the same time, the Grünberg district received 18 communities from the Hungen district and 10 communities from the Nidda district .
Between 1848 and 1852 the Grand Duchy of Hesse was divided into administrative districts; During this time, the district was part of the Gießen administrative district . On May 12, 1852, circles were created again; a newly delimited district of Grünberg was formed from the district court district Grünberg.
On July 1, 1874, the Grünberg district was dissolved as part of a Hessian district reform. Its communities were incorporated into the Upper Hesse districts of Alsfeld , Gießen and Schotten .
In 1852 the Grünberg district had 19,844 inhabitants in 38 communities.
