The district of Schotten is a former district in the province of Upper Hesse in the Grand Duchy of Hesse . The district office was in Schotten .
history
The circle was founded on May 12, 1852. He took over parts of the Gießen administrative district, which was dissolved at the same time .
During a district reform in 1874, the district of Schotten was expanded to include the communities of Eichelsdorf , Gedern , Glashütten , Mittel-Seemen , Nieder-Seemen , Ober-Lais , Ober-Schmitten , Ober-Seemen , Steinberg and Volkartshain of the dissolved district of Nidda .
The Schotten district was dissolved on November 1, 1938. The municipalities of the district were distributed to the neighboring districts of Gießen , Büdingen , Lauterbach and Alsfeld .
