history

Schotten-Betzenrod, Old Church

The oldest known mention was on June 24, 1338 under the name of Betzilnrode . Later the place name changed to Petrol Rod. Mention under the name Petzenroht comes from the period between 1700 and 1750 . In 1710 there is also the current spelling Betzenrod. However, stone axes found suggest a much earlier settlement .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Betzenrod in 1830:

"Betzenrode (L. Bez. Schotten) evangel. Branch village; Located in Vogelsberg 12 St. von Schotten, has 72 houses and 381 evangelists. Inhabitants, among whom there are 15 farmers, as well as 31 linen weavers and 1 cloth maker among craftsmen. "

In 1843 a school was built. It was dissolved in 1974.

On December 31, 1971, Betzenrod was incorporated into the city of Schotten as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Betzenrod was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the office of Schotten was responsible for Betzenrod. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. Betzenrod a lot in the judicial district of the " Landgericht Schotten ".

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts at the same location, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Amtsgericht Schotten" and the district was allocated of the regional court of Giessen .

With effect from July 1, 1968, the local court of Schotten was dissolved and Betzenrod came to the judicial district of the local court of Nidda . On January 1, 2012, the district court of Nidda was also dissolved in accordance with the resolution of the Hessian state parliament and Betzenrod was assigned to the district court of Büdingen . The superordinate instances are now the Regional Court of Giessen , the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.
