Theodor Bindewald

Theodor Heinrich Bindewald (born April 26, 1829 in Altenschlirf , † December 11, 1880 in Frischborn ) was a German pastor , local researcher and writer .

Life

Born the son of a pastor, Bindewald studied Protestant theology in Gießen from 1848 after attending grammar schools in Fulda and Büdingen . During his studies in 1848 he became a member of the Kattia Gießen fraternity . In 1851 he was at the Friedberg seminary , in 1852 a private teacher in Nauheim , from 1853 parish assistant in Pohlgöns and from 1855 parish vicar in Höchst an der Nidder . In the same year he became parish administrator in Rothenburg. In 1856 he became vicar in Heuchelheim , in 1857 pastor and teacher in Busenborn. In 1867 he moved to Großen-Eichen and in 1876 became pastor in Frischborn.

He was married to Luise Christine Buff, a great-niece of Charlotte Buff . The two had eight children. His son was Friedrich Bindewald .

For several years he was the editor of the folk calendar The True and Genuine Limping Messenger. Bindewald also worked as an employee of numerous magazines. He distinguished himself as a collector of legends , fairy tales and poems and was also active as a poet . He also drew very fine landscapes of Hesse and Vogelsberg.
