Frischborn is a village with around 1000 inhabitants and is part of the district town of Lauterbach in the Vogelsberg district in central Hesse .

history

The documentary mention of Frischborns from 1105 as Visgbrunnen is not certain. Only the mention of 1320 as Fihspurn is considered certain. The town was founded much earlier, between 400 and 800 years. The meaning of the place name is interpreted as a settlement located near the spring water, which is rich in fish.

Frischborn once had a lot of forest in its area. Until the 16th century there were several forest smithies and several mills in Frischborn that were powered by the water of the Lauter. The church with a massive stone tower was built in 1704. It dominates the village. Around 1900 there were small breweries, many day laborers and forest workers in Frischborn. There were canvas weaving mills (from 1902 a mechanical one, which was replaced by a hat factory in 1932). In 1881 a two-class schoolhouse was built in Frischborn.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Frischborn in 1830:

"Frischborn (L. Bez. Lauterbach) evangel. Parish village; lies in Vogelsberg 1 St. von Lauterbach, and belongs to the Baron von Riedesel. There are 91 houses with 642 Protestant residents, as well as 1 church, 1 schoolhouse, 2 grinding mills and 1 oil mill. The inhabitants are heavily involved in spinning and linen-weaving, and among the linen-weavers there are some who do their business in factories; cattle are also fattened and exported. - The place first appears in a document in 1320, because of a dispute over jurisdiction. "

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Frischborn was incorporated into the district town of Lauterbach on February 1, 1972 on a voluntary basis . For Frischborn, as for the other municipalities incorporated by the regional reform, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Frischborn was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or registry lords and thus the "Patrimonial Court of the Barons Riedesel zu Eisenbach" in Engelrod was responsible for Frischborn from 1806. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. For this, the stately " Lauterbach Regional Court " was created. It was only as a result of the March Revolution of 1848 that the special civil rights were finally abolished with the “Law on the Relationships of Classes and Noble Court Lords” of April 15, 1848.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Lauterbach Local Court" and allocation to the district of the regional court of Giessen .

On January 1, 2005, the Lauterbach District Court was repealed as a full court and became a branch of the Alsfeld District Court . On January 1, 2012, this branch was also closed. Now the superordinate instances are the regional court of Giessen , the higher regional court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.
