The Lauterbach district was a district in Hesse . It existed from 1852 to 1972. The district office was in Lauterbach . The district belonged to the province of Upper Hesse in the Grand Duchy of Hesse , from 1919 the state of Hesse .

geography

Beginning in 1972, the district bordered clockwise in the northwest on the districts of Alsfeld , Ziegenhain , Hersfeld , Hünfeld , Fulda , Schlüchtern , Gelnhausen , Büdingen and Gießen .

history

After the abolition of the offices in the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the district of Lauterbach existed from 1821 . This went up after the March Revolution in 1848 in the Alsfeld administrative district . After the victory of the reaction , the administrative districts were dissolved again in 1852. The Grand Duchy of Hesse was now subdivided into districts across the board; the Lauterbach district was formed from the Lauterbach, Schlitz and Altenschlirf district courts (in 1853 the seat changed from Altenschlirf to Herbstein). This area corresponded to the districts of Lauterbach and Schlitz , which were dissolved in 1848 .

On November 1, 1938, the communities of Feldkrücken , Hartmannshain , Herchenhain , Kölzenhain , Meiches , Rebgeshain , Ulrichstein and Volkartshain of the dissolved district of Schotten were added to the district of Lauterbach. After Nösberts and Weidmoos were also merged to form the municipality of Nösberts-Weidmoos in 1938 and Blitzenrod and Rudlos were incorporated into Lauterbach in 1939 , the district comprised 72 municipalities. Since the founding of Greater Hesse in 1945, the district has been part of the Darmstadt administrative district .

As part of the Hessian regional reform , numerous municipalities in the Lauterbach district were merged between 1969 and 1972. On December 31, 1971, the district was also enlarged by incorporating the communities of Bobenhausen II , Helpershain , Ober-Seibertenrod , Unter-Seibertenrod and Wohnfeld from the Alsfeld district to Ulrichstein in the Lauterbach district. Overall, the number of municipalities in the district decreased to 18 by July 1972.

On August 1, 1972, the Lauterbach district was merged with the neighboring Alsfeld district to form the Vogelsbergkreis , the administrative seat of which in turn became Lauterbach. At the same time, further incorporations took place. In the end, seven communities from the Lauterbach district joined the new Vogelsberg district.

coat of arms

On December 28, 1961, the Lauterbach district received its own coat of arms from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior in Wiesbaden.

Description : Split of black and gold (yellow), the front three silver (white) wave beam , behind two red Türkenbund Lilienblüten with green stem and stamens pale example . The three wavy lines are intended to symbolize the numerous streams that arise in the Vogelsberg. The two flowers are so-called Turkish lilies , a very rare plant species that still occurs occasionally in the high Vogelsberg.

Due to the amalgamation of the Lauterbach and Alsfeld districts to form the Vogelsbergkreis, the coat of arms was only officially in use for a little over a decade. In 1978 the Vogelsbergkreis received its own coat of arms in which the Turkish lilies from the Lauterbach district coat of arms were adopted.
