The district of Dieburg was a district in the people's state of Hesse and in the German state of Hesse . It went on in 1977 together with the Darmstadt district in today's Darmstadt-Dieburg district .
Neighboring areas
In 1976 the district bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the Hessian district Offenbach , the Bavarian district Aschaffenburg and the Odenwaldkreis and the district Darmstadt (both again in Hesse).
history
The district of Dieburg was created on November 1, 1938 as part of an administrative reform in the People's State of Hesse from the district of Dieburg under the cession of the communities of Allertshofen , Brandau , Ernsthofen , Frankenhausen , Herchenrode , Hoxhohl , Lützelbach , Neunkirchen , Neutsch , Nieder-Modau , Ober-Modau , Rohrbach and Wembach to the Darmstadt district.
The district initially comprised 57 communities. On April 1, 1952, the three communities Asbach , Klein-Bieberau and Webern moved from the Dieburg district to the Darmstadt district. The now 54 municipalities in the district were reduced to 26 as part of the regional reform in Hesse by the end of 1976. The communities Brensbach and Fränkisch-Crumbach were added to the Odenwaldkreis on August 1, 1972.
On January 1, 1977, most of the Dieburg district was merged with the Darmstadt district to form the Darmstadt-Dieburg district. The northern part of the district with the communities Nieder-Roden , Ober-Roden and Urberach came to the Offenbach district . At the same time, further incorporations took place on January 1, 1977, so that eleven communities from the old district of Dieburg finally joined the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg.
