Ober-Nauses in the Odenwald , together with Schloß-Nauses , is part of the Otzberg community in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse . The village is located in a valley southeast of the Otzberg and has about 200 inhabitants.
history
The history of the place is linked to that of the former moated castle Schloß-Naus , which also gave the more remote part of the place its name.
Ober-Naus was mentioned in the 11th century under the name Nyuusaze , later as Obern-Nauweseste (1357), Nusis uber Hogste (1396), Nausesse via Höchst (1398) and Oberennusatz in the 15th century. Until 1521 Ober-Naus belonged to the district of Umstadt . 1521 was a result of the Landshut War of Succession the Palatine Oberamt Otzberg awarded. It was part of the centering Hochst that in 1556 the Count of Erbach and Loewenstein-Wertheim acquired ( rule Breuberg ). From 1792, the Zent passed into the possession of the princes of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg and in 1803 fell to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt . Administratively, Ober-Nauses belonged to the Oberamt Otzberg, which fell to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt in 1803 as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss . With the exchange contract between the Hesse-Darmstadt and the Lord von Löwenstein-Wertheim on February 5, 1805, the Habitzheim office came about, which in 1806 fell to the Grand Duchy of Hesse through the Rhine Confederation Act . The lower jurisdiction remained with Mr. Löwenstein-Wertheim until 1822.
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reported in 1829 about Ober-Naus:
»Obernaus (L. Bez. Breuberg) Lutheran Filialdorf; is 2 St. from Breuberg and belongs to the Prince of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg. The place consists of 14 houses and has 75 Lutherans. There is also a prince here. Lock. In 1805, Hesse ceded the claims and sovereignty over the village bought by Count von Sickingen to Löwenstein-Wertheim by exchange, and in the following year the place came under Hess. Your Highness. "
On April 1, 1954, the previously independent municipalities of Ober-Naus and Schloß-Naus were merged to form the municipality of Ober-Naus. From 1961 on, Ober-Nauses belonged to the Wiebelsbach community association . This was dissolved in 1971. Wiebelsbach later went to the city of Groß-Umstadt . On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community of Ober-Nauses and five other communities voluntarily merged to form the new community of Otzberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse . For the six formerly independent municipalities, local districts with local advisory councils and local councilors were formed according to the Hessian municipal code. Lengfeld became the seat of the municipal administration.
