Hoxhohl is a district of the Modautal municipality in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse .

Hoxhohl is located in the front Odenwald in the upper Modautal . In the hit state roads 3099 and 3,101th

history

The village is first mentioned in a document in the early 15th century.
In 1485 Hans von Wallbrunn received the mortgaged village from Konrad von Frankenstein as a fief. Hoxhohl was in the judicial district of the district of Oberramstadt . The centering was divided into so-called "rice car," each of which a top magistrate board that the Zentgrafen were subordinated. This district had to provide a freight wagon (
rice wagon ) including draft animals and servants for campaigns. Hoxhohl belonged to the “Brandauer Reiswagen”, which also included the villages of Brandau Neunkirchen , Allertshofen , Herchenrod , Lützelbach , Ernsthofen , Neutsch , Klein-Bieberau and Webern . The entire district of Oberramstadt was assigned to the Lichtenberg office . This classification existed until the beginning of the 19th century.

In 1722 the brothers Johann Moritz Friedrich von Wallbrunn sold to Landgrave Ernst Ludwig von Hessen the castle and estate of Ernsthofen with the associated villages, namely Ernsthofen , Asbach , Hoxhohl, Klein-Bieberau and Neutsch , along with slopes in twelve other places, including Ober- Modau , Rodau , Waldhausen , Billings and Meßbach .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Hoxhohl in 1829:

»Hoxhohl (L. Bez. Reinheim) Lutheran Filialdorf; lies in a narrow valley on the Modaubach, and 2 34  St. from Reinheim. The place has 13 houses and 100 souls, up to 8 Cath. And 1 Reform. are Lutheran. Among these are 8 farmers, 2 artisans and 2 day laborers. There are 2 grinding mills. - Horhohl belonged to the Lord von Frankenstein, who enfeoffed the Lord von Wallbrunn with it. With the Frankenstein Castle, the fiefdom of this village came to Hesse in 1662. The Lords of Wallbrunn sold the place to Hessen in 1722, but took it back as a fief. "

In 1883/84 a joint school was built for Allertshofen and Hoxhohl.

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the communities of Hoxhohl and Allertshofen voluntarily merged on April 1, 1971 to form the newly formed community of Modautal. On January 1, 1977, additional municipalities were added by virtue of state law . For Hoxhohl, together with Allertshofen, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was formed according to the Hessian municipal code.

Hoxhohl belonged to the Oberramstadt district court . In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Darmstadt” was set up as a court of second instance for the Principality of Starkenburg . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or the landlords . The Lichtenberg Office was responsible for Hoxhohl. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate . The main courts had lost their function.

With the formation of the regional courts in the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the regional court of Lichtenberg was the court of first instance from 1821 . It followed:
