Asbach (in the local dialect: Aschbach ) is a district of the Modautal municipality in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse . The place is in the front Odenwald . State road 3106 runs northeast of the village .

history

The brothers Gerlach and Konrad von Asbach are mentioned in two documents from 1219 and 1222 . Since they occur together with witnesses from the Odenwald , there is a likelihood that it is Asbach bei Lichtenberg. Since the certificate is issued in Lichtenberg, it is undoubtedly Asbach (Darmstadt / Dieburg district).

The village is mentioned for the first time after 1331.

After the Thirty Years War in 1650, only two families lived in Asbach. There were those of Johannes Rutz and those of Martin Boßler . The latter was still settled in Asbach in 1659 and is named six years later in 1665 as a resident of Rodau .

1722 sell the brothers Johann Moritz Friedrich of Wallbrunn the Landgrave Ernst Ludwig of Hesse castle and estate to Ernsthofen with the associated villages, namely Ernsthofen, Asbach, Hoxhohl , Klein-Bieberau and Neutsch , along with gradients in twelve other places, including top-Modau , Rodau , Waldhausen , Billings and Meßbach .

Asbach belonged to the judicial district of the district of Oberramstadt . The centering was divided into so-called "rice car," each of which a top magistrate board that the Zentgrafen were subordinated. Asbach belonged to the "Oberramstädter Reiswagen", which also included the places Ober-Ramstadt with its mills and the German residents in Hahn and Wembach , Rohrbach , Dilshofen , Ober-Modau , Nieder-Modau and Frankenhausen . The entire district of Oberramstadt was assigned to the Lichtenberg office . This classification existed until the beginning of the 19th century.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Asbach in 1829:

»Aßbach (L. Bez. Reinheim) Lutheran Filialdorf; is 2 St. from Reinheim and has 27 houses and 223 inhabitants, all of which are Lutheran except for 2 Catholics. Among these are 12 farmers and 18 tradesmen. - From this village the Lord possessed of Wallbrunn half, 1 / 4 Rodensteinstraße and 1 / 4 Kotwitz, the latter two parts came finally to Wallbrunn and the whole 1722 in Hesse. "

In 1977 Asbach became the first state winner in the competition Our village should become more beautiful .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the previously independent municipality was merged with Modautal and other municipalities by state law on January 1, 1977 to form the new municipality of Modautal. For Asbach, a local district with local advisory board and mayor was formed according to the Hessian municipal code.
