The Hessian Family History Association e. V. (HfV) was founded in Darmstadt in 1921. The association is a member of the umbrella organization of the German Working Group on Genealogical Associations . V. (DAGV).

Club activity

The purpose is to promote members in the historical auxiliary sciences family research ( genealogy ) and heraldry ( heraldry ). For this purpose, an office is maintained in the Hessian State Archive in Darmstadt with an extensive library and archive . Club history

  • In 1973 the association organized the 25th German Genealogy Day . A larger office was moved into the Darmstadt Residenzschloss within the State Archives.
  • In 1978 the number of members exceeded 400.
  • In 1980 the club index had over 200,000 personal names.
  • In 1994 the company moved to today's State Archives on Karolinenplatz. The number of members reached 800.
  • In 2000 a closed mailing list for the three hess. established family history societies in Hesse.
  • In 2005 a membership of 1000 was reached.
  • In 2018, 500,000 church book duplicate pages (a total of 1,000,000 digital copies) are online in the members area.

Club sign
