The German Working Group of the Genealogical Associations eV ( DAGV ) is the umbrella organization of the genealogical and heraldic associations in Germany .

history

The association was on 28./29. Founded May 1949 as an umbrella organization for the German genealogical associations and is the successor to the working group of German family and coat of arms associations , which was founded on November 29, 1924.

The motto is:

D etegimus a ntiquorum g enerum v estigia.

The association, based in Stuttgart , has 67 member associations with over 22,000 individual members. Its purpose is to promote the common tasks of its members in the field of family research and heraldry .

One result of the advocacy of genealogists by DAGV is releasing the civil register of the registry offices in the archives , where they are free explorable because of 2009 came into force change of civil status law.

The DAGV annually organizes the German Genealogy Day for all members .
