Rohrbach is a district of Ober-Ramstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse .
geography
Rohrbach is located in the front Odenwald . State road 3105 runs through the village from north to south .
history
The first documentary mention (1292) does not mention the village Rohrbach, but the three knights Hartmut, Hartmund and Stephan von Rohrbach. Rohrbach is first mentioned in a document in 1382. 1382 have "Werner calf war" horsemen (armed servants) of the cities of Frankfurt, Mainz and Worms significant damage in Nieder-Modau Ober-Modau, Rohrbach, Wembach and served on the Hofgut Illbach (Eulbach).
Other historical place names are Roirbach (1403) and from 1670 Rohrbach. The feudal lords of Rohrbach were the Counts of Katzenelnbogen and, when they died out in 1479, fell to the Landgraviate of Hesse as heir . The following are evidenced by documents:
In 1392 Werner Kalb von Reinheim (the family later became a member of the knightly canton of Odenwald ) took his property in Rohrbach as a fief from Count Eberhard von Katzenelnbogen . Fiefs were the families von Eulbach / Ulbach (1398), Werberg von Lindenfels (1403), a family at the Heidelberger Hof that was at times very influential in the 15th century , von Mosbach (1423), the family was later a member of the knightly canton of Odenwald, von Erligheim ( 1423), von Rohrbach (1440), von Helmstatt (1441) (the family was later a member of the knightly canton of Odenwald), von Wallbrunn (1450) and Hans von Möhringen, brother-in-law of Hans von Rohrbach (1463). 1489 enfeoffed Landgrave Wilhelm I of Hesse Philipp Kalb von Reinheim with Rohrbach.
In 1699, several fugitive Waldensian families from the municipality of Pragelà in the Duchy of Piedmont in Italy were settled in Rohrbach and the neighboring towns of Hahn and Wembach . 25 families with 125 people came to Rohrbach; 23 families with 115 people to Wembach and Hahn. In addition to its own pastors, the colony also had its own teachers and mayors and thus an independent administration. From 1718 Rohrbach was rebuilt according to plans by Johann Justus Spengler; Around a large square in the middle (Place de commun), 25 houses are being built according to a uniform construction plan, four of which are two-story. Pastor Jacques Moutoux dies in 1738, he was born in Traverses / Pragela in 1656 and accompanied his congregation to his new home; he was followed by his son David as pastor for the colony. In 1745 extensive forest clearing was carried out to enlarge the three landgraves' farms, which had been assigned to the 48 Waldensian families by the landgrave. Numerous families from the colony emigrated to Bandenburg in 1750 under the leadership of David Moutoux. Johann Philipp May (1750–1779) becomes the new pastor, followed by his son of the same name (1779–1820). The Waldensians were banned from using the French language in church and school around 1820. Little by little they also lose their privileges.
The German residents of Rohrbach belonged to the judicial district of the Zent Oberramstadt . The centering was divided into so-called "rice car," each of which a top magistrate board that the Zentgrafen were subordinated. Rohrbach belonged to the "Oberramstädter Reiswagen", to which the places Ober-Ramstadt , Asbach , Dilshofen , Ober-Modau , Nieder-Modau and Frankenhausen also belonged. The entire district of Oberramstadt was assigned to the Lichtenberg office . This classification existed until the beginning of the 19th century. The 321 French residents in Rohrbach, Wembach and Hahn (as of 1791) were subject to central jurisdiction and were not assigned to the rice wagons.
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Rohrbach in 1829:
“Rohrbach (L. Bez. Reinheim) reformed parish village; is 1 1 / 4 St. pure home, and has 47 houses and 316 inh., up to 63 Luth. and 2 Cath. are reformed. The church was built in 1762; In the past, stocking weaving was very popular. Four shopkeepers' markets are held annually. This place had noblemen named after him. In the 30 Years War Rohrbach was very depressed, but was expanded by the Waldensians in 1699 and mostly built. "
From 1866 the administration was divided: from then on, one mayor was responsible for Rohrbach, another for Wembach and Hahn. In 1890 the school and rectory were built. The 200th anniversary of the colony's foundation was celebrated with a large pageant in 1899 and a memorial stone was erected. In 1900 a new school was built in Rohrbach and Wembach. In 1940, with the help of the NSV, a toddler school was set up in the hall of the Sonne inn .
In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , a local district with a local advisory council and mayor was set up for the Rohrbach district on January 21, 1972 on the basis of the boundary change agreement , which includes the area of the former community. On April 1, 1972, the municipality was incorporated into Ober-Ramstadt on a voluntary basis as part of the regional reform in Hesse. Rohrbach is the only part of the city with a local district according to the Hessian municipal code .

Rohrbach belonged to the Oberramstadt district court . In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Darmstadt” was set up as a court of second instance for the Principality of Starkenburg . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or the landlords . The Lichtenberg Office was responsible for Rohrbach. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate . The main courts had lost their function.
With the formation of the regional courts in the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the regional court of Lichtenberg was the court of first instance from 1821 . It followed:
- from 1848: Regional Court of Reinheim (relocated from Lichtenberg)
- from 1879: Reinheim District Court (renamed); second instance district court Darmstadt
- from 1968: Darmstadt District Court with the dissolution of the Reinheim District Court; second instance district court Darmstadt

coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver a rooted green fir, the trunk of which is held on both sides by two rising and facing blue-crowned and -reinforced red lions."
The coat of arms was approved on November 2, 1950 by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior. |
|
Justification for the coat of arms: This picture shows the court seal from 1700. In that year the Waldensian community Pragelà signed a contract with Landgrave Ernst Ludwig von Hessen, on the basis of which the farms Rohrbach, Wembach and Hahn were left to it. They received their own secular court with the above seal, the image of which was officially awarded to the Rohrbach community in 1950 as a coat of arms. |
