Modau (dialect: Murre ) is a district of the city of Ober-Ramstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse .

history

Modau was created on July 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Hesse through the voluntary amalgamation of the municipalities of Nieder-Modau and Ober-Modau with 1876 inhabitants at the time. In 1976 the volunteer fire brigades of the two formerly independent communities of Ober-Modau and Nieder-Modau merged to form the Modau volunteer fire brigade. The newly created community was incorporated into Ober-Ramstadt on January 1, 1977 by virtue of state law. Since then, Modau has been referred to as a district in statistical and organizational terms. Unlike the Rohrbach district , a local district was not established. In 1992 the old age service center Heinrich Gerold Haus was built.
