coat of arms
Blazon : "In red a continuous silver (white) inclined cross , accompanied by a silver wolf iron ontop, and a silver diamond on each side and below."
The municipal coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Heinz Ritt and approved by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior on December 21, 1984 . It is made up of parts of the coats of arms of some districts. The cross or St. Andrew's cross comes from the coat of arms of Neutsch. The wolf iron or hatchet for the Frankensteiners as well as the lozenges for the Lords of Wallbrunn point to earlier rule relationships in the municipality and were also used before. |
|
flag
At the same time as the coat of arms, a community flag was also approved, which is described as follows: "On the white central track, delimited by a red outer stripe split by a white thread , the community coat of arms is placed in the upper half."

The Kaiserturm (a lookout tower already located in Gadernheim's district in the Bergstrasse district) on the Neunkircher Höhe , at 605 m, is the highest building in the Hessian Odenwald. From here there is a view over the entire Hessian Ried and the northernmost part of the Upper Rhine Plain and over the Rhine to the Palatinate hill country.
Buildings
Ernsthofen Castle
The beginnings of Ernsthofen Castle should be up to the 8th / 9th centuries. Go back to the century. The former court of Ernst, which was expanded into a castle, is said to have given the place Ernsthofen its name. Ernsthofen Castle was first mentioned in 1440 when the Lords of Rabenhold zu Ernsthofen sold the castle to Hans IV. Von Wallbrunn zu Nieder-Ramstadt. In the 15th-17th In the 19th century it was expanded by the Lords of Wallbrunn , whose seat the castle was until 1722, whereby the castle complex increasingly lost its purpose as a dam and thus became Ernsthofen Castle. In the 17th and 18th centuries the castle repeatedly served as quarters for landgraves' hunting parties. The castle is privately owned and therefore cannot be visited.
Hottenbacher Hof
The Hottenbacher Hof is a historical estate near Klein-Bieberau, which was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century and which is still in use today (with the exception of a period during the Thirty Years' War ).
The Hottenbacher Hof, however, belongs to the Fischbachtal community and is located on its boundary, it can only be reached by traffic via the Modautal community and is therefore also assigned there by post.
Nature and protected areas
Several forest areas in the municipality have been part of the Natura2000 protected area "Beech forests of the Vorderen Odenwald" (FFH area 6218-302) since 2008 .
