Markus Friedrich Wendelin

Markus Friedrich Wendelin (* 1584 in Sandhausen near Heidelberg ; † August 7, 1652 in Zerbst ) was a Reformed theologian and educator.

Life

Wendelin studied theology at the University of Heidelberg and graduated in 1607 with the title of Mag. Theol. from.

He then accompanied the future princes Christian II and Johann Kasimir von Anhalt on their cavalier tours as teacher and court master for about five years .

Following this activity, he returned to Anhalt with the two princes , where he was to spend the rest of his life. From 1612 he lived and worked in Zerbst, where from that year he headed the Francisceum grammar school as rector . He held this office until his death at the age of 68.

In addition to his post as a teacher, Wendelin became one of the leading figures in the reformed church system in Anhalt.
