Holger Green

Holger Green (born September 22, 1951 in Bernburg (Saale) ) is a German diplomat who was ambassador to Kyrgyzstan , Yemen and Tajikistan .

biography

After graduating from the Einhard-Gymnasium in Aachen in 1970, he studied mathematics and geography at RWTH Aachen University and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz between 1970 and 1975 . After completing his studies, he was a trainee teacher between 1976 and 1977 .

In 1977 he joined the diplomatic service and after completing his training as an attaché in 1979, he was employed as a cultural advisor at the embassy in the People's Republic of China and then from 1982 to 1985 as an advisor in the cultural department of the Foreign Office in Bonn . After working as Permanent Representative of the Ambassador in Nepal , he was Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Embassy in Japan from 1988 to 1991 . He then held the same position at the Embassy in France before he was Deputy Head of the Department for East Asia (Department 309) in the Federal Foreign Ministry from 1994 to 1997 .

In 1997 he was appointed head of the cultural department and then in 2000 as head of the economic department of the embassy in the PRC . After his return to Germany, he first became head of division in the Department for Global Issues, United Nations , Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid (Department GF) at the Foreign Office in 2004 and in 2005 in the Department for Communication , Public Relations and Media (Department K).

After working as a business agent ad interim at the embassy in Mali from July to September 2007, he completed a one-year language course in Russian . Between July 2008 and September 2011, he was the successor of the retirement came Klaus Werner Grewlich Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kyrgyzstan .

From September 2011, Holger Green was ambassador to Yemen and thus successor to Michael Klor-Berchtold , who became head of the Crisis Response Center in the Federal Foreign Office in February 2011. Gudrun Sräga became the new ambassador to Kyrgyzstan . From September 2013 to summer 2017, Green was ambassador to Tajikistan .
