history

The places in the meadow valley were probably all settled between 900 and 1300. Wembach was also created around the year 1000 as an Alemannic clearing. The first documentary mention was made in 1278 as Wendwak . The community had belonged to the St. Blasien monastery since the 13th century and thus belonged to the Habsburg Front Austria . In 1374 the current district of Schindeln was first mentioned as zů den Schindlen . In 1806 Wembach became Baden and in 1809 an independent municipality . An industrial park has existed in the village since the 1970s, followed by the Trudmättle building area in the 1990s .

Municipal council

The municipal council of Wembach has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 75.1% (2014: 65.0%).

The federal road 317 ( Titisee-Neustadt  - Todtnau  - Lörrach ) runs through Wembach . The SBG bus route 7300 also runs on this route . Until 1966 the place was connected to the railway network by the Zell im Wiesental – Todtnau railway line. To the east, the L131 leads over the Hau to the neighboring community of Neuweg in the Kleine Wiesental.

Educational institutions

There is no kindergarten or school in Wembach. Primary and secondary school students attend the school in nearby Schönau in the Black Forest, there is also a grammar school there . The closest secondary school is in Zell im Wiesental.
