history

The oldest documented mention of Fröhnd still in existence dates from 1352. Uf der Froende is called Dingrodel in the Sanktblasischen Dingrodel . The name comes from the Middle High German word vrœnde and denotes a country in the labor force - a manor. Documents with the naming of sub-locations are partly much older (Künaburg, Hepschingen 1113; Holz, Ittenschwand, Kastel 1260).

At the beginning of the 12th century, the Fröhnd and the Vogtei Schönau were largely owned by four related noble families, the lords of Waldeck , von Eichstetten , von Wehr and von Grenchen . Other master families were the von Stein with property in Hinterholz and Kienberg , who are the successors of the von Grenchen in Künaburg and had property in Kastel. Until 1260, the monastery of St. Blasien had received the entire property through donations and purchases and was thus the sole landlord of Fröhnd and had lower jurisdiction. Through the so-called bailiwick contract between the monastery and the Habsburgs , the monastery was granted bailiff freedom in 1356 for the Fröhnd and was also allowed to exercise high jurisdiction. Although the Fröhnd was co-administered by the Sanktblasian Vogtei Schönau, the residents had rights and duties that differed slightly from those of the residents of the actual Vogtei. The state sovereignty was held by the Habsburgs and the Fröhnd was assigned to the County of Hauenstein with the Schönau Valley Vogue and the Forest Vogt of Upper Austria and was part of the Upper Austrian Breisgau .

As a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , the Upper Austrian Breisgau came to the short-lived Duchy of Modena-Breisgau , which was soon inherited back to the House of Habsburg. Through the Peace of Pressburg , this duchy came to the Electorate of Baden in 1806 , which Napoleon made the Grand Duchy of Baden in the same year . In the administrative reform of 1807, the Grand Duchy created the Schönau district office , to which Fröhnd was also assigned. After the dissolution of this district office in 1924, the district office of Schopfheim became responsible for Fröhnd. With the definitive resolution of 1 April 1938, the government district office Loerrach was responsible for Fröhnd that by June 15, 1939 together with the existing district Loerrach as an association of local self-government by the district Lörrach as lower state administrative district ( Organleihe ), while Independent Administrative Institution replaced has been.
