Elbenschwand has been part of the Kleines Wiesental municipality in the Lörrach district in Baden-Württemberg since January 1, 2009 .

geography

Elbenschwand is located in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park in the valley of the Kleine Wiese at an altitude of 500 to 1000 meters. Forests take up 72% of the former municipal area.

In the area of ​​the former municipality of Elbenschwand are the villages of Elbenschwand (Hinter- and Vorderdorf), Holl and Langensee and the Buck group of houses. The Gebinbach desert lies in the former municipality .

history

Elbenschwand was first mentioned in 1278 in a deed of donation from the St. Blasien monastery . The monastery was the landlord until its secularization in 1806. Langensee was incorporated in 1934, Holl was already part of Langensee at that time. On January 1, 2009, the previously independent municipality of Elbenschwand was incorporated into the newly founded municipality of Kleines Wiesental. The community Elbenschwand belonged to the community administration association "Kleines Wiesental" based in Tegernau .

There is no school in Elbenschwand, elementary and secondary schools are in neighboring Tegernau, while secondary schools and high schools are in Schopfheim , Lörrach or Schönau . The author Edith Flubacher describes her childhood in Elbenschwand in the time before 1936 in the book “Das Bauerndorf im Schwarzwald”.

Events
