history
Maulburg is first mentioned as Murperch in a deed of gift from an Ercanpert dated February 27, 786 to the St. Gallen monastery .
It is a donation of goods and shares in the churches of Brombach and Weil am Rhein to St. Gallen . The charter was signed by Folcram, an 8th century priest . At the end of the certificate it says:
“Actum in Murperch villa publici. In ipsa casa fuit carta levata. "
(German:" Happened in Murperch im Frohnhof. This writing was put on in this house. ")
At that time this Murperch was already a farm with an administrative officer (" Centenarius "). His name was Brunchino. He and Priest Folcram are therefore the first known residents of today's Maulburg. The community, village and church can look back on over 1200 years of history.

Community partnerships
There is a partnership with the French community of Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse . This was initiated in the early 1980s at the request of the community by senior student officer Josef Haas from Bad Säckingen, who organized several partnerships of this kind. On September 19 and 20, 1981, the "jumelage" was sealed in Saint-Loup, while the partnership on the German side was celebrated on May 22 and 23, 1982 with mutual visits.
The partnership was also intended to overcome the horrors of the Second World War , which had separated the two neighboring countries on the Rhine. André Masson pointed this out in his speech: "The time has come to consciously turn a page of history."
In addition, there is a friendly, but not official, partnership with Steinegg, a fraction of the municipality of Karneid near Bozen in South Tyrol , through private contacts .

The lower floors of the bell tower are from the late Gothic period . During a thorough interior and exterior renovation in 1973 and 1974, archaeological investigations revealed the remains of two previous churches.
