Schallbach is a municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg . It is located north of Lörrach . The place is a member of the community administration association Vorderes Kandertal based in Binzen .

Schallbach is located in the border triangle of Germany, Switzerland and France on the southwestern foothills of the Black Forest at the exit of the Kandertal in the greater Basel - Weil - Lörrach area .

Schallbach was first mentioned in 1240 in a document from the Sankt Blasien monastery .

Schallbach is a member of the community administration association "Vorderes Kandertal", in which the communities Binzen, Eimeldingen , Fischingen, Rümmingen, Schallbach and Wittlingen have combined their administration since 1971 . The seat of the municipal administration association is Binzen. In this way, these small communities have largely managed to maintain their independence in the form of their own mayor and council.
The town council in Schallbach has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 65.4% (2014: 51.4%).
The honorary mayor Martin Gräßlin (in office since December 1, 2013). In October 2013, Gräßlin was elected to succeed Rudolf Schöpflin in the second ballot.
