The State Archive of Baden-Wuerttemberg comprises all of Baden-Wuerttemberg State Archives . It preserves the historical tradition of the state of Baden-Württemberg since 1952 and the tradition of the predecessor territories since the Middle Ages . Some of these extended beyond what is now Baden-Württemberg. Since the Count of Mömpelgard in Burgundy had belonged to the Duke of Württemberg since the Middle Ages , the administrative records of this county can now be found in Baden-Württemberg. The same applies to the former possessions of the Margraves of Baden in what is now Rhineland-Palatinate and Alsace .
history
On January 1, 2005, the merger of the Baden-Württemberg State Archives Directorate and the six state archives that had been subordinate to it until then came into force. The various offices are located in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Sigmaringen, Wertheim, Neuenstein and Kornwestheim.
The six archive departments are responsible for taking over, processing and making available the archive material. The two other departments are service departments responsible for various transnational services in the field of state archives.
The regional information system for Baden-Württemberg ( LEO-BW ) was made available in 2012 .
