The community is located in the Hessian part of Franconia . With over 16 square kilometers, the area is quite large, 524 hectares of which are wooded, extends from the Gersprenzufer in the east to the Rimdidim ( 499 m ) in the west and includes the ruins of Rodenstein Castle and a number of hamlets and residential areas, such as Bierbach , Eberbach, Erlau , Güttersbach, Höllerheck, Holzwiese, Meierei, Michelbach , Rodenstein and Schleiersbach.
Community structure

Neighboring communities
Fränkisch-Crumbach borders in the north on the municipality of Brensbach , in the east and south on the municipality Reichelsheim (both in the Odenwald district) and in the west on the city of Lindenfels ( district Bergstrasse ) and the municipality Fischbachtal ( district Darmstadt-Dieburg ).
history
The oldest surviving documentary mention as Crumbach dates from 1148. Other historically documented forms of name are (in brackets the year of the mention) Crumpach (1219, 1372, 1433), Krumppach (1434) and Crumbach (1653). The Fränkisch-Crumbach form has been in use since 1822 .
Until 1806, the place belonged to the Rodensteiner Mark as the Lordship of Crumbach and initially to the Lords of Rodenstein , who called themselves Lords of Crumbach before the Rodenstein Castle was built . After their extinction towards the end of the 17th century, Franconian Crumbach came under the rule of Gemmingen . In order to join the Rheinbund in 1806, the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , which thereby also rose to become the Grand Duchy of Hesse , also received the rule of Gemmingen and Fränkisch-Crumbach. Before 1821, the Grand Duchy signed a treaty with the Lords of Gemmingen, who let the state exercise their patrimonial rights.
Fränkisch-Crumbach belonged to the area of common law , which was valid here without the superimposition of particular law. This retained its validity even while the membership of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in the 19th century, until 1 January 1900 by the same across the whole German Reich current Civil Code was replaced.
Until the regional reform in Hesse , the community belonged to the district of Dieburg . On August 1, 1972, Fränkisch-Crumbach was incorporated into the Odenwaldkreis together with Brensbach .
Until 2014 the place was a recognized resort .

- The Evangelical Church of St. Laurentius was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style. In 1485 it received a tower and a late Gothic choir with rib vaults. The epitaphs of the Lords of Rodenstein , some of which date from the Renaissance, are remarkable .
- The Rodenstein Castle was built outside the village in a side valley of the Gersprenz valley around the year 1250 and fell into disrepair after the death of the last Rodensteiner and due to the later use as a quarry from 17/18. Century to the ruin.
- The manor house of the lords of Gemmingen-Hornberg was built in the late 16th century by the Rodensteiners as a manor in the village and has been owned by the barons of Gemmingen since the late 17th century.
- The town hall was built in 1719 on the site of an older noble estate by Johann Rudolf Victor von Pretlack as the palace of the von Pretlack family. It has been owned by the municipality since 1860 and was converted into the town hall in 1968.
- The Sarolta Chapel was built in 1892 by Adolph von Gemmingen as a mausoleum for his wife Sarolta, née Batthyány von Németújvár . Your upper floor serves as a Catholic chapel. The client and his wife are buried in the crypt in the basement, and there are also memorial plaques for the couple's children. There is also a burial place for the Barons of Gemmingen in the cemetery, next to an older crypt chapel of the Barons of Pretlack.
- The falling brook : In the source horizon of the Spitzen Bruch in the community forest of Fränkisch-Crumbach rises a brook that babbles down the slope over a high boulder, the "Fallenbachfelsen", which rises steeply directly on the forest path between the castle ruins Rodenstein and Freiheit.
