Geographical location

Brombachtal is located in the center of the Odenwald near Bad König . Three of the five districts of the municipality are in the catchment area of ​​the Brombach , which gave the Brombachtal its name. The highest point in the municipality is the 443 meter high Heidelberg in the Böllsteiner Odenwald in the west . The lowest point at around 185 meters is in the east in the Mümling lowlands on the roadside of Bundesstraße 45 , which forms the municipal boundary here.

Brombachtal borders the city of Bad König to the north and east , the city of Michelstadt to the south and the communities of Reichelsheim and Brensbach to the west .

history

The municipality was created on October 1, 1971 on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse through the voluntary amalgamation of the municipalities of Birkert, Böllstein, Hembach, Kirch-Brombach (now Kirchbrombach) and Langen-Brombach (now Langenbrombach). A new town hall was built on the outskirts of Kirchbrombach in the direction of Langenbrombach.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Brombachtal was approved on March 19, 1980 by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior . It was designed by the Bad Nauheim heraldist Heinz Ritt .

The black cross that splits the coat of arms comes from the coat of arms of the Fulda monastery . The upper right field shows the coat of arms of the Lords of Rodenstein , the star is a reference to the Counts of Erbach , the rose a reference to the Counts of Wertheim and the two bars the coat of arms of the Lords of Breuberg . All these families and Fulda owned what is now the districts of Brombachtal.

In the district of Kirchbrombach is the Protestant church built in the middle of the 15th century with the St. Alban's winged altar built around 1518 .
