Böllstein is the westernmost part of the municipality Brombachtal in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .
Geographical location
At 400 meters, Böllstein is the highest district of Brombachtal and is the only one west of the watershed of Gersprenz and Mümling , in the headwaters of the Affhöllerbach . On the watershed at the eastern edge, the Böllsteiner height of 416 meters, the second highest peak in the Böllsteiner Odenwald . history
The existence of the place is documented under the name Bilstein since 1347. It belonged to the Breuberg lordship until 1806 . Along the watershed east of the village went one as High Street and Old Street Erbacher called old route .
On October 1, 1971, on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , Böllstein voluntarily merged with four neighboring communities to form the municipality of Brombachtal. Böllstein is one of three Brombachtal districts for which, according to the main statute, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
Culture
