history

The establishment of the hamlet goes back to the construction of the "State Road", today's Bundesstraße 47 , through the Grand Duchy of Hesse . This road has been connecting the Gersprenztal with the Mümlingtal since 1838. There has been a carter's stop on this street since 1843 , which was known as the “Zur Spreng” inn for over 120 years and was widely known. After the inn had been abandoned, the property was partly converted for residential purposes and partly as a seminar room and holiday apartment. In 2008 the property and the buildings were taken over by the animal welfare association, Tiere in Not Odenwald , which houses animals in need there.

traffic

The Spreng is a hub in road traffic . Roads from six directions meet here. The main route is the B 47, known as Nibelungenstrasse , which comes from Worms and Bensheim and crosses the Odenwald in a west-east direction, from Reichelsheim winds up the climb past the Vierstöck inn to the Spreng and continues via Rehbach down to Michelstadt and from there to get to Amorbach via Eulbach .

The state road L 3260 runs through the Kainsbachtal and Ober-Kainsbach to the federal highway 38 and in the other direction it leads through Ober-Mossau and Unter-Mossau to the federal highway 460 , also known as Siegfriedstrasse . The L 3414 branches off into the Brombachtal and leads through Langenbrombach to Bad König . The county road K 211 eventually follows the old road Erbacher known old route along the ridge line of the watershed to Böllstein and then leads down to Brensbach .
