Unter-Mossau is a district of the municipality of Mossautal in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .
geography
The Waldhufendorf is located in the Odenwald in the Hessian red sandstone area in the Geo-Nature Park Bergstrasse-Odenwald am Mossaubach . State road 3260 runs through the village .
history
The village was first mentioned in 1426 under the name Nyddern Mossauwe .
The place name changed from Nyddern Mossauwe (1426) to Unter Mosaue (16th century) and then to today's Unter-Mossau.
On December 31, 1971, Unter-Mossau was incorporated into the new municipality of Mossautal as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
