history

As a result of the March Revolution in 1848, the provinces, counties and the districts still existing in the “sovereign countries” were abolished in the Grand Duchy and replaced by administrative districts. The administrative district of Erbach emerged from the districts of Breuberg , Erbach and the city of Wimpfen . Almost at the same time, the privileges of the landlords in the Grand Duchy of Hesse were abolished, and with them their patrimonial sovereignty, which the Counts of Erbach had possessed to a large extent in the area that now belonged to the Erbach Regional Council.

After the victory of the reaction , the Erbach administrative region was dissolved again in 1852. However, he retained the rights of the court lords and landlords that had fallen into the hands of the state in the course of the revolution, and did not reconstitute their district administrative districts, but instead formed circles analogous to the organizational form in the rest of the state.

The Erbach , Neustadt and Wimpfen districts emerged from the Erbach administrative district .
