The administrative district of Worms was an administrative district in the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1850 to 1852 . The district seat was Worms .

history

As a result of the March Revolution , the provinces and counties in the Grand Duchy were abolished in 1848 and replaced by administrative districts. The Mainz administrative district was also created as one of ten administrative districts in the Grand Duchy. For this purpose, the entire former province of Rheinhessen was redeclared to the new administrative district of Mainz .

The area turned out to be too extensive. Therefore, the administrative district of Worms was spun off in 1850 , the area of the former districts of Alzey and Worms . However, there were difficulties with the implementation and the "Government Commission of Worms" could not - as originally planned - start its work on July 11, 1850. The corresponding ordinance was only implemented on September 16, 1850.

As a product of the March Revolution, this territorial reform was reversed after the victory of the restorative forces in the reaction era in 1852 and the original two districts were restored from the area of the administrative district of Worms, the districts of Worms and Alzey.
