Hüttenthal is a district of the municipality of Mossautal in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

geography

The state-approved resort is located in the Odenwald in the Hessian red sandstone area in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald geo-nature park . The federal highway 460 , the so-called Nibelungenstrasse , and the state road 3260 run through the town. Southeast of the town is the Marbach reservoir . Three valleys meet in Hüttenthal, namely the valley of the Marbach , the Mossau and the Güttersbach .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1366. In the 15th century there were two mills in the village and three mills in the following century. In 1787 there was an iron hammer that was needed for iron smelting and processing.

In 1939 the two places belonged to the Erbach district and had a total of 294 inhabitants.

Territorial reform

On August 1, 1972, Hüttenthal was incorporated into the municipality of Mossautal as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Economy and Infrastructure

The primary school of the Mossautal community is located in Hüttenthal. There is also a private dairy as well as the Mossautalhalle, two children's playgrounds and a football field .
