Course of the road

The federal highway 460 (abbreviation: B 460 ) is a federal highway in Germany . It leads from Lorsch in the Bergstrasse district to Hetzbach in the Odenwald district through southern Hesse and is also known as Siegfriedstrasse .

course

The federal highway 460 begins in the west on the level of the Hessischer Ried as an extension of the state road L 3111, which comes from the north-west located Einhausen , with a bridge over the four-lane federal highway 47 , to which there is a crossing-free connection . The Hessian Ried has an altitude of 95 meters here. Just one kilometer west of this junction is the Lorsch exit of the federal motorway 67 to the B 47. The B 460 runs as a bypass east of Lorsch in the direction of Heppenheim . First crosses it with a single bridge at an acute angle, the lower Weschnitz and transversely to the Nibelungen web and parallel to herein as Bensheimer road designated County Road K 31 to which the B 460 is connected with two connecting arcs. After another kilometer parallel to the Weschnitz, the L 3111 branches off as Friedensstraße to the west into the southern district of Lorsch. This is followed by the Heppenheim motorway exit from federal motorway 5 . As Lorsch road leads to the city center of Heppenheim and crosses it north of the train station, the Main-Neckar-Bahn before the post office place in the national highway 3 opens and follows for a short distance to the north. Then it branches off to the east again and leads in the valley of the Stadtbach south of the Starkenburg out of the plain and from the Bergstrasse into the Vorderen Odenwald . Its small-scale mountain relief is due to the fact that the federal road, following the valley via Kirschhausen am Guldenklingerhof, reaches the 280-meter-high transition to the Weschnitzsenke. The road then follows the course of the Pfalzbach , also known as the Lörzenbach , down into the valley . It leads through the villages of Wald-Erlenbach , Mitlechtern and Lauten-Weschnitz in quick succession , before reaching the bottom of the Weschnitz valley at 195 meters above sea level at Lörzenbach , where it joins the federal highway 38 , which it follows four kilometers up the valley to the northeast. It shares the through-road of the core community of Fürth with her and separates from it in an easterly direction in the through-road of Krumbach . Immediately after Brombach , the Weschnitzsenke narrows at the hamlet of Leberbach to a narrow notch valley that cuts through the Tromm - Odenwald . The valley opens up again at Weschnitz and at Easter . The L 3346 branches off to the south in the upper Weschnitz valley and leads via Hammelbach to Wahlen in the Überwald . The K 52 branches off to the north and leads via Ober-Easter to Unter-Easter and into the Gersprenz valley . The crossing is 330 meters above sea level on a watershed . Here the road leaves the Weschnitz valley. At the southern edge of the Gersprenz area, the road leaves the Vorderen Odenwald and reaches the sandstone Odenwald . It rises on the north slope of the 521 meter high Kahlberg to the 413 meter high Wegscheide , the transition to the Mümling area . In keeping with the name, there is a street crossing up here. The federal road is crossed by the L 3105, which leads from Wald-Michelbach in the south to the B 38 near Reichelsheim to the north. Behind the Wegscheide, the road along the Marbach , which is also known by the side names Schmerbach or Streitbach , falls steadily in a south-easterly direction up to 250 meters to its end point, the confluence with federal road 45 in the Mümlingtal near Marbach between Ebersberg and Oberzent - Hetzbach . On the way she touches the places Hiltersklingen and Hüttenthal (Mossautal) as well as the Marbach reservoir .

history

Like all national roads by an order number 399 was 460, the federal highway until after 1960 the national transport under the road construction of the Federal devoted . In their route it follows the earlier than Siegfriedstraße known tourist route . In the thoroughfares it often has the street name Siegfriedstraße .

State of development

The entire length of the federal highway 460 has only one lane in each direction of travel. The section west of Heppenheim is largely free of intersections and developed as a bypass. There are a total of nine thoroughfares.

Between Kirschhausen and Guldenklinger Höhe , the carriageway is being renewed on a 1400 meter long stretch in the water protection area. In the future, the surface water of the carriageway is to be drained in a controlled manner into an overflow basin and an infiltration basin. The construction work should be completed by June 2, 2012.

In the area of the hamlet Leberbach between Brombach and Weschnitz, the planning approval procedure for the expansion of the federal highway 460 over a length of 566 meters was applied for in 2010. The purpose is, among other things, the elimination of an accident point.
