The federal highway 409 (abbreviation: B 409 ) was a 16.5 kilometer long German federal highway in the northwest of Rhineland-Palatinate . It led from the Belgian border near Steinebrück (municipality of Winterspelt) via Winterspelt , Habscheid to Pronsfeld , where it ended at the B 410 .
Bundesstraße 409 was downgraded to state road L 16 in 1993 after the (mostly two-lane) completion of the parallel section of the A 60 between Steinebrück and Prüm .
On the Belgian side, the route of the former B 409 is continued as the N 646 in the direction of Sankt Vith .
