The federal highway 518 (abbreviation: B 518 ) runs exclusively through Baden-Württemberg and the districts of Lörrach and Waldshut .

The B 518 begins in Schopfheim (0.0 km), which has a connection to the B 317 there. To the east, out of town, the winding road reaches the Eichener Höhe ( 481 m ) after 2.5 kilometers , which also marks the highest point of the federal road. After around 4 kilometers, the B 518 changes direction from east to south and after 6.8 kilometers it reaches the city of Wehr and after 12.1 kilometers Wehr-Brennet , where it meets the B 34 . At its end point in Bad Säckingen you come to the German-Swiss border and cross the Rhine over the Fridolin Bridge in the direction of Switzerland .
