The federal highway 171 (abbreviation: B 171 ) is a German federal highway in Saxony . It begins in Selva ( Ore Mountains District ) on the B 101 and ends after 71.5 km at Dippoldiswalde ( District of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ) on the B 170 .

course

The main road runs in a south-west-north-east direction parallel to the Erzgebirge ridge from the Zschopau to the Roten Weißeritz . The south-north running stream and river valleys are crossed with descents and climbs.

The main road branches off the B 101 at the exit of the Gehringswalde district of Selva . From this point to Marienberg is the street of the historic race track of Marienberger triangle . Selva is only marginally touched on the bypass route completed in 1935. After another climb, a high point is reached at the Wolfsberg settlement. Then the road descends to Marienberg . The federal road crosses the city. At the end of the village, the B 174 crosses the B 171 via a viaduct.

The federal road continues along the Hüttengrund. From the confluence of the Schlettenbach and the Roten Pockau , the course of the road follows an earlier trade route over the Erzgebirgskamm, the Böhmischer Steig , via Zöblitz to the start . From the start, a ridge is crossed in order to reach the Flöhatal in Olbernhau . Along the Bielatal , the road climbs again via Pfaffroda and Dittmannsdorf to Sayda, and then comes to the valley of the Freiberg Mulde in Rechenberg-Bienenmühle via Clausnitz . This is where the crossing with the state roads S 185 (Hermsdorf), S 208 (Naundorf) and S 211 (Olbernhau) takes place

The road leaves the valley eastwards again uphill to then get into the valley of the Nassauer Dorfbach. The Waldhufendorf Nassau is crossed and bypassed on a road that climbs again to the north. After crossing the Gimmlitztal , the height at Frauenstein is reached. Here the main road crosses the state road S 184 leading from Freiberg to Moldau. Then Reichenau is crossed. In the further course to Hennersdorf (64 km) the upper course of the Lehnmühle dam is bridged with the Wilden Weißeritz . The street layout was changed by the construction of the dam from 1927 to 1931: The route that once through the now in storage space located village Steinbrück mill went, was led to the southern end of the dam. From Hennersdorf you reach Sadisdorf. Following the course of the Ochsenbach, the federal road in Unteraundorf reaches the valley of the Roten Weißeritz and the B 170 (Dresden-Zinnwald).

There are no European roads on the B 171 and it is not crossed by a federal motorway . The B 171 is part of the German avenue road and between Sayda and Wolkenstein also part of the Silberstraße .

history

The course was dedicated to the trunk road in the early 1960s . The previous Reichsstrasse 171 (today's state road S 178) between Heidenau and Altenberg through the Müglitztal had already been downgraded at this point.

With reunification in 1990, the trunk road became a federal highway. The main road began in the Schönbrunn district until December 10, 1998 and crossed the Zschopau on the arched bridge built in 1770. Then the location of Selva was reached and crossed via serpentines .
