The federal highway 493 (abbreviation: B 493 ) is a German federal highway in Lower Saxony .
History / other
The eastern section of federal highway 493 from Schnackenburg to Lüchow was set up in the early 1970s to improve the network of federal roads and, in this case, the accessibility of the border areas on the inner German border . This can also be seen from the fact that federal highway 493 ends shortly before the Elbe ferry and the section on the other side of the Elbe to federal highway 195 in Brandenburg is a state road. The stretch from Uelzen to Lüchow was only declared federal highway 493 many years later.
The main street in Gartow in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district is part of the federal highway 493.
