The federal road 218 (abbreviation B 218 ) is an east-west connection in Lower Saxony . It is completely in the district of Osnabrück .

course

End of the B 218 at the Leckermühle

The main road begins at the eastern end of the Fürstenau district of Schwagstorf as a continuation of the B 214 , which branches off to the left in the direction of Diepholz . It runs south-east towards Bramsche , then for about 4.5 km together with the B 68 in a southerly direction. Then it crosses Bramsche and follows east the Mittellandkanal , crossing the A 1 and ends at the roundabout Leckermühle on the territory of the municipality Bohmte near the border with Ostercappeln . The route at the foot of the Wiehengebirge in the direction of Minden is continued on the other side of the roundabout through the B 65 . The B 51 receives the traffic of the B 218 in the direction of Osnabrück or Diepholz at the top.

The B 218 is crossed or touched four times by the Bramgau route and twice by the street of the megalithic culture. Immediately next to it on the border between Kalkriese and Venne is the museum and the Kalkriese Park , where, according to many scientists, parts of the Varus Battle took place in AD 9 .
