The national highway 110 (abbreviation: B 110 ) is a German national road . It begins on the island of Usedom near Garz on the Polish border in front of Swinoujscie and ends in Rostock- Süd on the A 19 .

history

The forerunner of Bundesstraße 110 is Reichsstraße 110 , which was dedicated as Reichsstraße as early as 1932, when the numbering for the German trunk road system was still essentially valid.

The R 110 began in the city of Swinoujscie until 1945 , where it was connected to Reichsstraße 111 . The short distance to the current German-Polish border is taken from the Polish state road 93 .

On the "Map of Germany's trunk roads" from 1930, it can be seen that trunk road 110 ran west of Anklam to Friedland and merged with trunk road 104 east of Neubrandenburg. Since May 22, 1931, the UBB bridge was opened, the island of Usedom in the southern section of the Peene River connects with the mainland, the R 110 was already traveled in their early years without interruption.

Due to the establishment of the Oder-Neisse border in the east of Usedom in 1945, the eastern section of the former R 110 in the border area was not passable for decades. On April 24, 2007, the border between Garz and Swinoujscie was opened to pedestrians, cyclists and buses. Since December 21, 2007, cars have been allowed to cross the border crossing. It is still closed to heavy traffic.

Changes to the route were made on the B 110 through the construction of bypasses. The release of the bypass road at Anklam on May 8, 2015 is of particular importance.

Planning

In the "Regional Spatial Development Plan Western Pomerania / Environmental Report 2010" considerations are made about the construction of bypasses for the city of Usedom and the village of Zirchow . The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has registered the Dargun bypass for the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 .
