The National Highway 137 ( R 137 ) was to 1945, a state road of the German Reich . It led in northern East Prussia in a north-south direction from Kreuzingen (until 1938 Groß Skaisgirren , Russian Bolschakowo ) via Insterburg (Tschernjachowsk) to Goldap ( Polish Gołdap ), and after 1939 on to Suwałki (1941-44: Sudauen ). From both sides the R 137 was a feeder road to the northern R 1 , which it crossed at Insterburg.

The total length of the road was 152 kilometers.

Today the route of the former R 137 runs in the two national territories of Russia and Poland . In Russia, the A 197 and the R 517 trunk road as well as an unmarked road perform the tasks of the R 137, which is initially terminated at the Russian-Polish border due to the lack of a border crossing point . On the Polish side, there is initially an unmarked road, which is continued from the state road Droga krajowa 65 (DK 65) and the voivodship road Droga wojewódzka 652 (DW 652). In Russia, the former R 137 runs through almost the entire Kaliningrad Oblast , in Poland it connects the northern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship with the north of the Podlaskie Voivodeship .
