Reichsstrasse 139
The National Highway 139 ( R 139 ) to 1945 was one of the shortest state highways of the German Reich . With a total length of only 40 kilometers, it ran in north-south direction in northern East Prussia and connected the city of Insterburg and the Reichsstraßen R 1 and R 137 with the district of Gerdauen and the R 131 running through it .
Today the route of the former R 139 runs through the southern half of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad and is marked as a section of the A 197 highway .
