The national highway 388 ( R 388 ) was established in 1940 in the then annexed Poland Reichsstraße of the German Reich furnished but given up in 1941; the number was then assigned to a street in Upper Bavaria , Lower Bavaria and northern Austria , the part of which remained in Germany is now referred to as Bundesstraße 388 . The original Reichsstraße 388 ran from Ciechanów (then known as Zichenau), in a south-easterly direction on the route of today's Droga krajowa 60 and the DW 618 to Pułtusk (1941 to 1945 Ostenburg), and from there to the border of the Generalgouvernement in the direction of Wyszków .
The length of the former Reichsstraße was around 60 kilometers to Pułtusk.
