Reichsstrasse 140
The National Highway 140 ( R 140 ) was to 1945, a state road of the German Reich . It ran in southern East Prussia , crossed the Sensburger Lake District (now in Polish: Pojezierze Mrągowskie ) and connected the cities of Sensburg (Mrągowo) and Lötzen (Giżycko) as well as the two imperial roads R 127 and R 131 . Their total length was 41 kilometers.
Today the route of the former R 140 runs in the southern Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is marked with the national road (Droga krajowa) DK 59 , which - coming from Rozogi ( Friedrichshof ) near the border with the Masovian Voivodeship - leads via Mrągowo to Giżycko and - like the R 140 - ends here.
