The Hainfelder Straße B 18 is a state road B in Lower Austria and a former federal road in Austria with a length of 55.7 km. It leads from Günselsdorf in the Vienna Basin via Leobersdorf (connection to the A 2 south motorway ) and Berndorf through the Triestingtal , via the Richtberg , Hainfeld and Gölsental to Traisen in the Mostviertel . Hainfelder Straße is a connection between Wiener Neustädter Straße B 17 and Mariazeller Straße B 20.
Long before the introduction of the truck toll , this route was a popular shortcut from the West Autobahn to the South Autobahn and vice versa. It was not only shorter, it also circumvented the critical stretch of the Vienna outer ring motorway . However, since the road leads through the narrow valleys to a large extent through the towns themselves, this was a great burden for the population. For this reason, a total truck driving ban was issued first at night and later. Only the source and destination traffic of the neighboring places is allowed.
history
The Hirtenberger road opened up the Triestingtal and was completed in 1823 to Altenmarkt. It had two toll stations in Hirtenberg and Altenmarkt, which were put into operation in 1824 and in 1834 brought in 4,600 guilders a year for the state treasury. Since November 1, 1827, there were two more toll stations in Gersthof and Reinfeld, which brought in another 2,500 guilders for the state treasury in 1834. By 1856, traffic on Hirtenberger Strasse had increased so much that the state's total income reached around 10,000 guilders. Because of its low supra-regional importance, this road was handed over to the state of Lower Austria in 1869 and run as a state road.
After the " Anschluss of Austria ", this road was converted into a first-order state road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and designated as LIO 55. On March 23, 1942, she was by order of the Inspector General for the German Road Administration to Reichsstraße explained and as a national route 410 , respectively.
The Hainfelderstraße belonged since April 1, 1948 the network of trunk roads.

B18 | Like the other former federal highways, Hainfelder Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße. |
