The Gaberl Straße on the Gaberlpasshöhe

The Gaberl road (B 77) is a country road in Austria . It connects the cities of Judenburg and Knittelfeld an der Mur with the cities of Köflach and Voitsberg on the edge of the Lavanttal Alps over the Stubalpe over a length of 49.9 km . Together with Packer Strasse (B 70) , Gaberl Strasse offers the shortest connection from the Styrian capital Graz to the north-west of the state. The street is named after the Gaberl , a pass that is roughly in the middle of the route.

history

The road from Köflach via Salla to Weißkirchen was assigned to the first class district roads by the law of October 3, 1868. Since April 1, 1938, the district roads of the 1st order in Styria have been run as state roads.

The Gaberl street belonged from January 1, 1951 to June 1, 1961, the network of federal roads in Austria .

Since January 1st, 1973 it has been part of the network of federal highways in Austria again .

 B77  Like the other former federal highways, Gaberl Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
