history

The princes of Pálffy had the road from Wiener Neustadt via Schwarzau am Steinfeld , Seebenstein , Krumbach and Kirchschlag to Güns expanded into a road at their own expense , which was completed in September 1818. This made the transport of agricultural products from the Kirchschlag and Krumbach dominions, which belonged to the Princes of Palffy, much easier.

The road from the " Hungarian border next to Güns via Kirchschlag, Krumbach, Seebenstein to Wiener Neustadt" is one of the 17 roads that were declared Lower Austrian state roads in 1866.

The 65.1 km long Kirchschlager Strasse between Wiener Neustadt and Lockenhaus was declared a federal road by ordinance of the federal government of June 9, 1933. Until 1938, Kirchschlager Strasse was designated as B 19. After the annexation of Austria , this road was converted into a 1st order state road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and designated as LIO 63. On March 23, 1942, she was by order of the Inspector General for the German Road Administration to Reichsstraße explained and as a national route 406 , respectively.

Since April 1, 1948, Kirchschlager Strasse has again been part of the network of federal roads in Austria . The Kirchschlager Strasse of the post-war period began in Edlitz on Wechsel Strasse and led from Lockenhaus over the Geschrittenstein to Schachendorf .

Since 1972, Kirchschlager Straße has ended in Rattersdorf, which is why the southern section of Kirchschlager Straße was renamed Geschrittenstein Straße B 56 in 1972.
