The Walchseestraße ( B 172 ) is a state road in Tyrol in Austria with a length of 22.16 km.

course

The Walchseestrasse begins at the state border at Reit im Winkl as a continuation of the Bavarian State Road 2364. It leads west through the Kaiserwinkl , following the course of the Loferbach , the Großache and the Weißenbach . In Kössen it  crosses the Kössener Straße (B 176), which runs in north-south direction . It runs along the north bank of the Walchsee  and through the village of Walchsee to Niederndorf . In the village of Sebi (municipality of Niederndorf) it shares a 500 m route with the Wildbichler Straße (B 175). At the state border on the Niederndorfer Innbrücke, it turns into the Bavarian State Road 2093, which leads to Oberaudorf and the German A 93 .

history

The road from Oberaudorf to Reit im Winkl was originally called Kössener Straße and has been part of the network of federal highways in Austria since January 1st, 1950 . Since January 1, 1973, this street has been called Walchsee Straße , because the name Kössener Straße is now used for the north-south route from St. Johann to the German border near Klobenstein .

On May 15, 2002 the name of the Tyrolean Parliament was changed to Walchseestrasse .

B172  Like the other former federal highways, Walchseestrasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
