The Seebergstraße (B 82) is a country road in Austria . Over a length of 64.9 km it leads in eastern Carinthia from Sankt Veit an der Glan via Brückl, Völkermarkt an der Drau and Bad Eisenkappel through the Vellachtal up to the eponymous Seebergsattel on the state border with Slovenia .

history

In the 18th and 19th centuries, Kappler Straße was an important road connection between the Austrian crown lands of Carinthia and Krain and was therefore considered a Reichsstraße . In 1854 there were two toll stations on the Carinthian side in Eisenkappel and Vellach, which brought in only 2,180 guilders for the state treasury. From 1901 the Kappler Reichsstrasse was redesigned at the expense of the Ministry of the Interior.

The southern section of the route, the 40 km long Kappler Straße , is one of the former Reichsstraßen that were taken over as federal roads in 1921. Until 1938 Kappler Straße was designated as B 33, after the connection with Austria , Kappler Straße was designated as Reichsstraße 335 until 1945 . From 1948 this route was called Eisenkappler Straße .

The northern section, the 28 km long St. Veit-Völkermarkter Straße ( B 83 ), has also been part of the network of federal highways in Austria since January 1, 1951 . This section of the route consists of two former Carinthian state roads:

  • The Trixner road between international market and Brückl already belonged since 1 January 1872 to the network of the Carinthian roads.
  • The St. Vitus Brückler road was declared by the Kärntnerstraße Act of 21 May 1890 on the country road.

After the annexation of Austria , these two roads were converted into a 1st order country road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and designated as LIO 19.

The Federal Roads Act of 1971 combined both sections of the route into one continuous federal road ( B 82 ), which was henceforth referred to as Seeberg Straße .
