history

Güssinger Strasse B57

Origins

Güssinger Strasse is located in Burgenland, which belonged to Hungary until 1921 . In 1926 the road network in Burgenland was reorganized and adapted to the changed state borders. The following state roads have been on today's route since July 1, 1926:

  • The Kemetner street of Stegersbach on Kemeten to Oberwart-Hartenberger country road
  • The Burgauer Straße from Burgau via Stegersbach to Sankt Michael . The section west of Stegersbach is now known as Stegersbacher Straße .
  • The Großpetersdorf-Güssingerstraße from Großpetersdorf via Sankt Michael to Güssing. Starting in 1926, this road was to be expanded into a federal road with the financial contribution of the federal government, who paid 65% of the construction costs.
  • The Heiligenkreuzer Straße from Güssing to Heiligenkreuz, where it merged into the Ungarische Straße. Starting in 1926, this road was to be expanded into a federal road with the financial contribution of the federal government, who paid 65% of the construction costs.
  • The Jennersdorfer road from Holy Cross to Jennersdorf.

Previous routes and names

The Güssinger Straße between Großpetersdorf and Heiligenkreuz was declared a federal highway by ordinance of the federal government of June 9, 1933. It led from Großpetersdorf via Kohfidisch , St. Michael and Güssing to Heiligenkreuz. Until 1938 this federal road was designated as the B 17, after the connection of Austria this route was not run as a Reichsstraße .

Since April 1, 1948, the Eisenstädter Straße led from Oberwart via Stegersbach, Güssing, Heiligenkreuz and Jennersdorf to Fehring. The stretch of the former Güssinger Straße between Großpetersdorf and St. Michael has since been referred to as Großpetersdorfer Straße and from January 1st 1950 to 1971 belonged to the network of federal highways in Austria .

Since January 1, 1973, the southern part of Eisenstädter Straße has been called Güssinger Straße (B 57) because Burgenland Straße (B 50) now ends in Hartberg .
