mayor

Mayor is Michaela Raber (SPÖ).

After Mayor Willibald Höchtl (SPÖ), who had been in office since March 28, 1993, died on April 17, 2011 at the age of 64, Höchtl had achieved 93.88% approval in the 2007 election. The management of the community was transferred to the deputy mayor Karl Bauer (SPÖ) on an interim basis. In the necessary election of the mayor on September 11, 2011, Michaela Raber (SPÖ) was able to prevail with 249 votes (61.33%) against Adolf Bauer (ÖVP) with 157 votes (38.67%). Raber was thus elected the first female mayor in the whole of southern Burgenland.

In the direct election of the mayor on October 7, 2012, Raber was able to increase approval to 78.81%. This time, the competitor was Franz Grohotolszky (ÖVP, 21.19%). In the election on October 1, 2017, Raber was able to increase her share of the vote again. She was confirmed in office by 79.71% of the voters and exceeded the result of her SPÖ by 17.30 percentage points. This time the competitor was Rene Graf (FPÖ), who with only 20.29% clearly missed his personal election target of “breaking the absolute majority of the SPÖ in Rauchwart”.

Rudolf Ploy (SPÖ) was elected deputy mayor at the constituent meeting of the municipal council.
