Kleinmürbisch is a municipality with 230 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Güssing district in Burgenland in Austria . The Hungarian place name of the municipality is Felsőmedves , and the Croatian place name Mali Medveš .

Geographical location

The community is located in southern Burgenland. Kleinmürbisch is the only village in the municipality. Other places are Glockenberg , Graben , Oberberg and Unterberg .

Incorporations

Kleinmürbisch was an independent community until December 31, 1970. In the course of the Municipal Structure Improvement Act of September 1, 1970, Kleinmürbisch was merged with the previously independent municipalities of Glasing , Großmürbisch , Inzenhof , Neustift bei Güssing and Tschanigraben to form the new large municipality Neustift bei Güssing on January 1, 1971 . After a decision by the Constitutional Court, Kleinmürbisch regained independence on June 1, 1991. Until 1997 the administration of Kleinmürbisch took place in the community association in Güssing.

history

Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Felsömedves be used.

After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ).

mayor

Mayor is Martin Frühwirth (SPÖ).

After the municipality regained its independence on June 1, 1991, Ferdinand Semler (ÖVP) was elected mayor. In the direct mayor election in 2002 he was defeated by Martin Frühwirth, who achieved 51.75%, although the ÖVP retained the majority in the local council. In the elections that followed in 2007, he was able to increase his approval rate to 55.11% and in 2012 to 63.76%. In the election on October 1, 2017, Frühwirth achieved 46.26% in the first ballot against Wolfgang Wolf ( list of petty and other people - people's party , 44.93%) and Edmund Hamerl (FPÖ, 8.81%). In the visual election, Frühwirth prevailed against Wolf with 51.26%.

In the constituent meeting of the municipal council, Ewald Schaberl (ÖVP) was elected deputy mayor.

The head of the municipal office is Willibald Klucsarits.
